“Boutique hotel with sumptuous décor blending Art Deco and surrealism. Occupying a grand Viennese townhouse, it’s well located for the sights of Vienna. A high level of attention to detail and excellent service make this hotel a real treat for a weekend away. A classic, elegant escape.”

Hotel review

Open the tall doors of the Hotel Josefine and find a glamorous and opulent world of crystal chandeliers, stone balustrades, wood panelling and rich jewel colour tones of emerald and garnet. The interior inspiration is an intriguing fusion of surrealism meets Art Deco. Rooms feature Viennese wicker headboards, tasselled lampshades and velvet ottomans; the bathrooms blend gold taps with green marble and 3D effect bathroom tiles. Charming touches abound: a Roberts Revival radio plays soft jazz (or link it to your smartphone for your choice of tune), a fully functioning rotary dial telephone connects you with Reception, Votary toiletries fill the air with botanical scent, and a bottle of wine is served free of charge on request. The staff are all utterly delightful - smiles all round - and nothing is too much trouble.

The hotel is well located just off Vienna’s main shopping street, Mariahilfer Strasse. A twenty minute stroll along the tree-lined boulevard takes you straight into the heart of old Vienna, and a taxi ride in the other direction gets you to the magnificent Schönbrunn Palace.

The hotel doesn’t serve evening meals, but breakfast is a real treat. Try the delicious Eierspeise - an Austrian dish of scrambled eggs with cheese and ham - or the decadent mini fluffy pancakes with syrup, freshly whipped cream and berries. There’s also Viennese porridge, ham, cheese or smoked salmon platter, every sort of egg, and fruit salad with granola, amongst other options. The orange juice is freshly squeezed and the coffee is smooth and silky.

Map & Location

See what they say

Why do people love staying in your hotel? Most of our guests enjoy the atmosphere, the design and the provided service. Once you are at the hotel, you are mesmerized with the combination of colors, forms and textures. You can literally forget what  happens outside, which year it is and if you are in any particular city. Surrounded by artistic beauty and spiritual comfort, you are just home. You are inspired to put the daily routine on pause and savor every moment.

What is there to do in the area? The location is perfect for the travelers who want to get the most from the Viennese days. One of the longest shopping streets in Europe is located just in 2 minutes from the hotel. In 10-15 minutes walking you can reach the museums with the biggest collections in the country, among which are Museum of Fine Arts (where you can meet the masterpieces from ancient Egypt till the European classic art),  Leopold Museum (with the biggest in the world collection of Egon Schiele), MUMOK (with the most recent art works from Austrian and international artists), Secession (an architectural manifesto created by the Vienna Secession members), Albertina (that offers an overview to the European art of the end of 19th – beginning of 20th centuries).

For those, who are interested in Natural science, there are also several options, for instance Museum of Natural History and Haus des Meeres (where you can explore the underwater world). If you are fond of design as much as we are, you can have a look at the Möbelmuseum, where the masterpieces of Furniture Design are presented.

With public transport (the entrance to the underground station is in 2 minutes from hotel) you can easily reach the main cathedral – Stephansdom, - and other city attractions.

What kind of breakfast do you offer? Guests are very welcome to start the day with us and enjoy fresh, homemade á là carte breakfast, that is served daily from 07:00 am till 12:00 p.m. and prolonged till 2 p.m. on weekend. The menu offers the classic breakfast varieties cooked with seasonable and local products. The vegetarian and vegan options are also available.

Do you offer other meals? And can you recommend good places to eat out locally? Apart of breakfast hours we offer our guests room service. We are more than happy to share our restaurant recommendations with the guests. During check-in each person gets a concierge brochure where the best nearest options are listed. More than that, we provide the guests with the additional information based on their preferences and timing.

Which are your most popular room types, and why? The Suites Bel Étage and Maisonette are regularly sold out. Bel Étage is a spacious suite with marvelous, old stucco elements, a free-standing bathtub with lion's paws, and a picturesque bay window. The tall Art Nouveau stained-glass windows let in plenty of daylight, which softly illuminates the oak parquet flooring with its traditional, Viennese herringbone design. Each Maisonette suite has several reasons to be loved, among them are 2 bedrooms, the highest floor and a spacious terrace where, on a clear day, you can see the snowy peaks of the mountains.

What facilities do you have for children and can you fit extra beds in your rooms? Some room categories, for instance Josefine Ideale Plus and Bel Étage, offer a possibility to place an additional bed for a child. Maisonette Suite has 2 bedrooms, that is perfect for a family stay.
