“A fine hotel on the beach promenade with a pretty pool surrounded by loungers, and two charming restaurants. Stylish interiors are furnished elegantly and feature warm tones, wooden floorboards and bold fabrics while the large minimal-chic rooms have four posters. A great pied-a-terre for families.”

Hotel Trias, Palamós, Costa Brava

Grand old hotels with literary connections can sometimes be a little stuffy, but the excellent-value Hotel Trias is anything but. This stylish, family-friendly hotel is where Truman Capote stayed in 1960 while he finished In Cold Blood, and you can still stay in his glamorous, sea-view suite.
