Hotel Review
Hotel Vila Alexander is situated in the centre of the historic town of Berat and the final part of the journey is completed on foot up a cobbled path. You will be warmly greeted by Aleksander and (if you are lucky) a friendly local to help you with your bags. Vila Aleksander is owned and managed by Aleksander and his family who have carefully renovated and restored their 19th century townhouse, ensuring the traditional Albanian architecture is not compromised. Simple and tasteful rooms boast exposed stone work, white-washed walls and plenty of antique furniture. They are cosy (some have even got open fires) and, where possible, have beautiful views of Berat. In good weather Aleksander and his family prepare home cooked meals which are enjoyed on the roof top terrace, which is also where breakfast (continental in style) is served. The staff are extremely friendly and welcoming, and the proximity of Vila Aleksander to the old fortress of Berat makes this a charming place to come and stay.
