With natural sand dunes, coconut plantations and mangroves, the landscapes surrounding the Jaguaribe River are an exceptional example of Brazil's biodiversity. The ocean inlet where the river runs into the ocean creates the perfect conditions for kite surfing; cue the creation of the Jaguaribe Lodge & Kite, a luxury, family-friendly eco-lodge facing the river. Accommodation is made up of a collection of custom-designed eco bungalows and two lodges built on stilts in the sea; the orientation of the bungalows means that they are naturally ventilated, avoiding energy-consuming air conditioning units. There is real attention to detail in the layout of these simple units, with traditional thatched roofs and wood panelling lending a back-to-nature feel. There are two lodges designed for families or groups, with multiple bedrooms and extra living space; the Family Lodge offers two independent suites, perfect for a group, while the Lodge Double incorporates a children's bedroom into the main lodge, great for a family travelling with two children. Both offer beautiful ocean views. The lodges and bungalows are connected by a floating walkway, meaning that the sea flows undisturbed beneath you. In terms of facilities, it is no surprise that the focus is on kite surfing.
