Comfort, privacy and peace preside at this Provençal paradise, well hidden but for a row of tall cypress trees (planted historically to stop lightning striking a house) outside the charming village of Cucuron. Owners Guy & Bibi, originally Paris-based design-led journalists, bought the former hunting lodge set within 13 acres, as a near ruin 16 years ago and have created an enchanting garden that's part ornamental with pools and topiaries and part orchard and vineyard from which they produce their own Hocus Pocus wine. Over 1000 trees have been planted including 50 species of fig and a spiral of olive trees and myrtle. Guests have discreet access to their own quarters via a private entrance, use of a kitchenette and the sleek infinity pool. Breakfast is served under a canopy of vines with Bibi's delicious homemade jams and fresh cut flowers. A blissful spot to scribe that unfinished novel.
