Hotel Review

Mere metres from Valencia’s emblematic cathedral, L’Esplai occupies the fourth floor of an apartment block in the city’s historic core (don’t worry - there’s a lift!). Tucked down a sidestreet, it’s also mercifully quiet at night despite its central location. Bedrooms have a real sense of space and feature original tiled floors and handpicked furniture, while beds and bathrooms are roomy and supplied with crispwhite linens and towels. Friendly host Africa Beamund is knowledgeable about her city and keen to go the extra mile for her guests. A fulsome breakfast – comprising eggs and charcuterie, pastries and fresh fruit – is prepared each morning and eaten ‘family-style’ in the stylish dining-slash-sitting room.

See What They Say

Why do people love staying in your hotel? One of the reasons is because we have an excellent location, a few steps away from the most touristic and charming places of the city, the old part.

What is there to do in the area? Visit all these places and enjoy our gastronomy, Valencia has a very interesting gastronomic offer and also for all tastes. In our area you can visit 400 meters away the Central Market, a modernist jewel, a real beauty with more than 300 stores to buy food and taste some of them in the same place. La Lonja de la Seda, Unesco Heritage, a beautiful monument right in front of the Market, the Cathedral, a few steps from L'Esplai Valencia and also an endless number of monuments and ancient streets in the old part of the city.

What kind of breakfast do you offer? We offer a very complete breakfast prepared at the moment with varied and local products. Orange juice (in season) or smoothie of apples, beet, carrots (summer) ... coffee, tea, toast and croissants with butter, jam, nutella, every day we change the second part of breakfast, one day scrambled eggs with bacon, toast with ham, cheese and agaucate... and to finish fruit with natural yoghurt and oatmeal or muesli.

Do you offer other meals? And can you recommend good places to eat out locally? We only offer breakfast and no other meals. There are plenty of restaurants in the area, although it is difficult to recommend when you do not know the taste of the diner, we still tried.

Which are your most popular room types, and why? Each of our rooms "Malvarrosa", "El Carme" have names of different Valencian neighborhoods, different from each other and decorated with great care. Our most special room is the "Xerea", so called because it is the area where we are located. This room has a very special touch, we tried to preserve the original friezes and elements of the time.

What facilities do you have for children and can you fit extra beds in your rooms ? We have a crib free of charge for our guests and our rooms allow space for extra beds with an additional cost of 47 €.

What message would you like to give The Hotel Guru readers? There are many reasons to choose us and not only for our location. Our philosophy is based on attention to detail and we will try to make you enjoy your stay and feel at home.
