“Typical of the Malmaison brand. Castle-like hotel bedecked with tartan upholstery and dark furniture. Intimate whisky snug, brasserie, bar, and relaxing spa. ”

Hotel review

Malmaison - the UK’s original boutique chain hotel. Affectionately known as Mal by staff and guests alike, the hotels are mainly located in city centres and in converted and unusual buildings - a prison, a postal sorting office, a church and even a brothel. Malmaison Aberdeen doesn’t disappoint. Opened in 2008 in a granite building a stone’s throw from the city centre, it offers a private wine tasting cellar, a whisky tasting room, private dining, a spa and gym and is frequented by executives, golfers and those simply wishing to explore this beautiful area of Scotland. A little blingy, certainly. Rather dark, that too, but the swagger of Malmaison is forgotten once you have settled into your room. The real beauty of Malmaison is quite simply, it is fun. The rooms and suites are spacious with large king sized beds, fluffy bathrobes, power showers and figgy smelling products. The staff are young, friendly, efficient and passionate about Mal. The bath products have silly labels, the artwork is quirky, you might even have a football table in your room. As for the restaurant, well it's busy, buzzing and fun, and if you are after a steak or seafood you will be spoiled for choice. Great fun and highly recommended.
