Hotel Review
Leave your guide books behind and enter the world of the aptly named 'Mystic River Resort' on the high banks of the Macal River. This property perches sixty feet above the river in lush rainforest and is on the edge of the 100,000 acre Mountain Pine Ridge nature reserve. It is perfectly situated to make the most of this stunning area. 'Mystic River' has mature well maintained grounds with eco-lodges and a lovely new spa offering massages and treatments using products inspired by the nature around. Some of the lodges have open fires and their own plunge-pool, and all are family friendly with extra bed capacity. There may not be any air-con or TVs but all other modern amenities are defintely present: wifi, iPod docking stations, walk-in showers, complimentary smellies....After a delicious breakfast in the open sided restaurant with toucans and hummingbirds for company, entrust yourselves to Mystic's staffs expert guiding skills and planned trips to discover the rainforest, the jungle and some of the fabulous Mayan sites of this area. There are too many trips available to mention but suffice to say Mystic River will go to great efforts to show you special places which you can enjoy withouth another soul in sight. Blancaneaux cave in the Pine Ridge nature reserve was my 'Indiana Jones' moment. Mystic River Resort provides the perfect base for an unmissable jungle experience in Belize.
