Hotel review

The hotel is made up of a collection of buildings including separate historic guest houses, spread around an immaculate park by the Wabash River. Rooms are comfortable without being lavish – excellent mattresses, linens, and smart bathrooms. The hotel restaurant is welcoming and competent, and the only one in town. A large pool with a fitness centre is also provided. The welcome is warm, as is the wood-and-cotton décor. New Harmony, itself, is a quiet historic town built by a Scottish philanthropist as a social experiment. The experiment failed, but the town remains an interesting and little-known destination, with the Inn at its heart. Not quite large enough to be a destination in itself, the Inn is ideal as a stop on a Mid-Western Road Trip, or for the visitor to nearby Evansville.
