“Sewara's first eco friendly offering shows its neighbours how it's done. An oasis amidst the Aravalli hills this tranquil abode features green lawns, a tropical pool and traditional spa. Chic interiors come in earthy tones and cuisine is local in both its flavours and sourcing. A great option.”

Hotel review

Here’s a fun fact about Pushkar Resort: its very first guest was Kate Winslet. Whilst filming Holy Smoke in the Thar desert, there were no “appropriate accommodation options” as Mandal the GM puts it, for the international traveller. Almost twenty years later they are still going strong and providing a welcoming stay for both the domestic and international market. Now boasting an inventory of forty cottages there is a distinctly family feel about this resort, located just a few kilometers outside of Pushkar town. With almost nothing to be heard apart from the local birdsong (and the odd sonorous wail of a truck horn – this is India after all) it is an oasis of relaxation. Set amidst fifteen acres of manicured lawns and ensconced by the Aravalli hills there are plenty of spots to basque in the sun or relax under the shade of a bougainvillea tree. There is an expansive organic vegetable plot, providing much of the kitchen produce, whilst chickoo, bananas, mango, amla and aloe vera grows wild. There is also a palm tree-lined pool, a welcome respite in the summer months. Cottages are spacious and include small indoor and outdoor seating areas – adjoining suites are ideal for families. Terracotta tiled floors, woven baskets and dhurries traditional hand-painted ceramics and local artworks on the walls give create an unmistakably Rajasthani touch though muted palettes and natural materials give rooms an earthy feel. Hot water is constant and both solar and electric powered and complimentary Biotique toiletries are included as standard. In the restaurant there is an emphasis on local cuisine in the restaurant, which serves a buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner, but an a la carte international fair is available too. The homemade pesto is delicious. In room snacks are available throughout the day. From camel rides to dune buggying; a Balinese massage to croquet there are plenty of ways to relax and unwind, to be as active or inactive as one chooses at this property. A great option for families wanting a time-out from Rajasthan’s well-traversed tourist trail.
