Located in the North Hampshire countryside, The Elvetham is a grand country manor that has an intriguing, rich history; King Henry VIII is reputed to have fallen in love with Jane Seymour, and its setting may even have inspired Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
The house is surrounded by manicured gardens and pretty park and farmland. On arrival guests are offered a map of a 5K circular walk through the local fields and farmland; a great way to get some fresh country air before soaking up the hotel’s history and sipping on a cocktail in the well-stocked bar which features fancy chairs fit for royalty.
The Elvetham caters especially well to couples looking for a relaxed break although as a word of caution, it's a popular venue for events such as weddings and birthday celebrations, which may cause noise disturbance for other guests, so check if there’s an event taking place before you book. Guest rooms are spotlessly clean and comfortable, and the restaurant serves tasty dishes in a pretty conservatory where plants hang from the ceiling.
