“A charming country inn with beautifully styled interiors and impeccable pub fare. Four elegantly styled rooms are traditional yet unfussy, with well placed art, crisp white linen and soft pastel hues; dog-friendly, too. The restaurant uses mainly local produce and there's a great ale selection too. ”

Hotel Review

Only 50 metres from the main road which takes you into the nearby market town of Holt, yet this place feels deep in the countryside. Cows graze in the surrounding fields, and there’s not a building in sight. A handsome, Georgian affair with creeper-covered walls and wide sash windows, it’s deceptively big. The tiled-floor bar curves round into a rustic-style dining room; all scrubbed wooden tables and leather-seat chairs, pale-grey walls and exposed beams. A large wood-burning stove keeps everything toasty-warm. Local ales are on tap while the menu is big on local produce, including Brancaster mussels, Cromer crabs, and game that’s shot just a couple of fields away. Even the flour for the home-made bread comes from the 19th-century watermill at the other end of the village. Bedrooms aren’t huge - and rear rooms look over a flat roof - but are quietly stylish and make the most of their space with pale colours, and a mix of antique and contemporary furniture. In summer, everyone spills into the huge beer garden with its children’s play area and ‘shack’ with bar and BBQ grill. A great place to unwind after a day exploring north Norfolk’s beaches.
