Originally conceived as the final luxury railway hotel in the late 1800s, The Landmark was built in Gothic Revival style and certainly makes a grand statement in terms of presence even today. The main entrance on the Marylebone Road is stunning - from the discreet reception area a sweeping staircase leads you up to the stunning eight storey high Atrium which is filled with palm trees. The bedrooms and suites are very large for London standards. All are classic yet stylish, with plenty of details nodding to the property's glory days at the beginning of the twentieth century - Art Deco furniture and decor take centre stage. Dinner can be taken in either the Winter Garden (2 AA Rosettes) or the comfortable Great Central Bar & Restaurant. We enjoyed a delicious dinner in the Winter Garden Restaurant, which is worth a visit for its location alone (situated in the atrium). For drinks, definitely visit the Mirror Bar - the fantastic bar manager will listen to your likes and dislikes, then concoct something special that will hit the spot! On top of all this the Landmark has a health club and spa with 15 metre pool, hot tub and sanarium - the only gripe being that you have to pay for spa day membership to use the facilities. That said it is a luxurious treat in the heart of Marylebone and makes for a great city break base with its ease of access to all the major sights, plus superb shopping on the doorstep.
