The hotel, discretly tucked away on the island’s edge is truly sublime. Creams and whites blend with tree-trunk sidetables, wicker mats and vast rustic urns. All in harmony with nature which is so nourishing. Spread across well-kept gardens that include silver Bismarck Palms are the soft yellow villas. The solid square interiors are reminiscent of David Hockney with white furnishings, still ferns, open white shutters and plunge pools. The decor is fresh and contemporary. There are colourful artworks, upright swivel chairs, signature individual shelled mirrors and satinised curtains. Vast comfy beds to plunge into and spacious en-suite bathrooms with Elemis toiletries and rainfall showers only using rainwater.
The incredibly spacious circular restaurant has a divine open-air style. It’s the ultimate indoors-outdoors pavilion with views of the surrounding islands. The loungers and rope-lined decks lend the public spaces a slightly nautical vibe. The jet set literally descend impressively low beneath the pavilion roof to the airstrip beyond allowing the celebrities to land for lunch as do passing yachts that moor on the jetty.
Real luxury often requires space. It never feels crowded and guests typically have the beach to themselves.
