Hotel Review
There are no cars on Tresco, just glittering, pristine Caribbean-esque beaches and tropical shrubbery. Regulars come year after year to this unspoilt archipelago for its rugged beauty and enchanting, hard-to-reach isolation. The New Inn is an award-winning, atmospheric pub where old timers and newcomers congregate in the traditional beamed Driftwood Bar sitting in cosy nooks on padded banquettes, decorated with maritime artefacts. The Pavilion restaurant provides an inviting menu with tasty flavours and nicely presented plates of mainly local fish-orientated dishes alongside standard pub fodder and innovative vegetable sides. In summer visitors can spill out into the garden and terrace, overlooking the aqua sea. The Residents’ Lounge has sofas and armchairs and a log burner for staying guests to enjoy a quiet read or gather before an outing. Each of the 16 rooms are comfortable with painted dado panels, linen upholstery, super king or twin Hypnos beds and en suite rain showers or bath tubs. Overall the place has a homely feel which makes for a perfectly informal base for couples and families on a Scillonian exploration.
