When you survey all the space age architecture surrounding this charming pub nestled within a lovely little Georgian terrace of eight cottages, it is a marvel it’s survived. While the cosy pub itself, dating from 1801, is pleasant enough, with exposed beams and nautical memorabilia, its funky guest rooms above are its jewel - quirky, lovely and very comfortable. They vary wildly: the Captain’s Cabin features wood panelling and porthole windows, while another room features retro maps, and another has a wall of album covers. Bathrooms tend to be tiled, with a contemporary slant. There are charming flourishes, such as vintage suitcases stacked up above the door of one room and colourful framed exotic prints of birds in another. Transport links are very good, and the bars, restaurants, cinemas and live events at the 02 are just minutes away.
