“Lovely 17th century inn in a beautiful rural spot overlooking 600 acres of National Trust common land. Comfortable rooms and an excellent seasonal menu complete the stay. Fuel yourself for long walks in the country and wind down with an evening by the fire. ”

Hotel review

This ancient and charming coaching inn sits atop the blustery heath of Minchinhampton, in pretty Cotswold countryside. It’s one of the few inns left in the country that’s privately owned (therefore not part of a chain) and allegedly has a resident spook. Cuttings are pinned to the pub wall detailing the story behind the haunting, however, a warm welcoming atmosphere calms any potential fears of ghostly tales of a ragged rascal running amok around The Ragged Cot. There’s little to stop guests having an uninterrupted night’s sleep here. Rooms are spacious, smartly decorated in neutral shades, well presented and insulated and equipped with generous beds, antique furniture, tartan cushions, plasma screens and even a hot water bottle for chilly nights. Spotless en suite bathrooms have efficient power showers and cosy bath robes. Expect decent pub food in a warm atmosphere. The next door café serves coffee and light lunches.
