“Designed by the same architects as Dubai's Burj Khalifa, this atmospheric East London tower hotel is a hub for cool capital dwellers and a great base for design-conscious visitors on a budget. Guestrooms feature comfy throws and sleek fittings, and there's a High Skyline garden. A smart city stay.”

Hotel review

A hotel this stylish would cost a bomb in central London - but the Stratford is a mere seven minutes by train from King's Cross. Light-filled ground-floor drinking and dining space Kitchen E20 is a knockout introduction to several floors of Scandi-inspired design, with an Alexander Calder-style mural hanging over the guests enjoying the legendary Saturday brunches. Upstairs there's also fine-dining restaurant Allegra, led by the former head chef at the Chiltern Firehouse. Bedrooms are decorated in warm pinks or cool greys, with colour pop chairs and floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the Olympic Park to add visual interest. The distinctive 'double double' rooms are particularly good for families, but all have elegant stone bathrooms kitted out with Rituals toiletries. Night owls will find refuge either at the spacious 24-hour gym or at cocktail bar The Mezzanine, open most evenings 'til midnight and hosting regular DJ sets.
