“Porto’s grand dame of a hotel offers Michelin star dining, a spa and 82 luxurious bedrooms, many overlooking the Douro. It sits high up above the port houses, overlooking its decanter-shaped infinity pool and the River Douro beyond. Designer in style whilst keeping comfort and character in tact.”

Hotel Review
Porto has boomed in the last few years, with some lovely hotels on its streets, but The Yeatman remains the one which sets the benchmark. It is stately and sedate, handsome rather than pretty and offers all that one could want from a 25,000 bottle wine cellar to a 2* Michelin restaurant - to staff that come with a smile.
Centred on a wine theme, every corridor represents a wine area of the world, whilst the lifts transport you to the cellars or the vineyards pictured on their walls. Rooms are spacious (think uplifting, buttercup-yellow, walls with glossy white louvered shutters) and all spill out onto a terrace overlooking the multi-coloured, medieval facades of Porto across the river. Bathrooms come with under floor heating and deliciously fragrant soaps.
The spa has an indoor swimming pool, gym and hammam with treatments using, appropriately, Caudalie wine-based products. The outdoor swimming pool, decanter-shaped, has clear walls to allow views of Porto while you dip.
With food and wine being two of the pillars that this hotel has been built on, you will not be disappointed by the level of excellence. Chef Riccardo Costa delivers Portuguese cuisine with a modern twist in the hotel’s gastronomic restaurant, certainly worthy of its 2* Michelin award. Don’t miss the opportunity to do a much recommended wine pairing.
