“This chic retreat is set on the banks of the Hoosic River in the Berkshires city of North Adams. A contemporary take on the classic American motor lodge, this hotel combines minimalist Scandanavian-style guestrooms, woodland trails and modern artwork. A stylish and laid-back hotel.”

Our New Favourite Place to Stay in the Berkshires

The Berkshires have been a cultural destination for years—Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art (MASS MoCA), The Clark Art Institute, Tanglewood, and Wilco’s Solid Sound Music Festival—though the lodging options didn't measure up. (Think fusty inns and the kind of roadside motels that advertise in-room DVD players.) Tourists, a 48-room modern mountain hotel that opens today in the village of Blackinton, just west of North Adams, is set to change all that.
