The visually dramatic alizarin crimson coloured Villa Gonatouki sits in a commanding position above Essaouira with spectacular views expanding across to the Atlantic. It's like a private albeit palatial villa with hotel-style hospitality. Bruno, the enthusiastic French owner and host is very accommodating and takes great pride, alongside his staff, in providing excellent service. He's also an entertaining raconteur who originally designed the house for his family. Food is perfectly spiced, flavoured and presented - served on the sheltered terrace or in the main salon with the bonus of flexible mealtimes. Upstairs, rooms are spacious, each with a fireplace, en suite tadelakt bathroom and most with private terrace.There's access to two heated pools (one 22 metres for lap lovers; 300 lengths being the record so far), a hamman with massage for pure relaxation or excursions can be organised for those who can drag themselves away from the peaceful haven.
