Nafplio has been dubbed one of the romantic towns in Greece, and strolling through Syntagma Square it is easy to see why; pretty, colonial style buildings nestled around the plaza are low-lit at night, with restaurants and bars buzzing with the noise of Greeks and tourists alike. Xenon Inn sits in the square itself, in a notable period building that has been beautifully restored. The unfussy interior design gets it just right; the natural tones and dark wood accents perfectly complement the original stone walls and high ceilings. Book the suite for fantastic views of Palamadi Castle. The café downstairs is a little more ornate, but the corner bar with the back-lit drinks wall is a nice feature, and there is a great selection of cocktails on offer. Sink into the cosy café chairs for a coffee if you prefer. With all the historical sites within easy walking distance, there will be plenty of time left over to luxuriate in your romantic suite.
