Well-connected to the group’s other islands, Paros actually tends to be quieter, because it has largely been seen as a gateway rather than a holiday island itself. Head north to lovely Naoussa, a picturesque fishing village with plenty of traditional charm, or inland to Lefkes Olive, a mountain village framed by pine trees. To the south sits the fascinating Museum of Cycladic Folklore, which is also well worth visiting. Venture still further off the beaten track with a few days on tiny neighbouring Antiparos next door.
