“A design lover's dream. Minimalist sixties chic with muted tones but oodles of style. All rooms are palatial with private courtyards, some with private pools. If not you've two more to choose from plus an indulgent spa. Dine on modern Khymer dishes and European cuisine. Aman pilgrims will love. ”

Amansara hotel, Siem Reap, Cambodia: review

Amansara was originally built in 1962 as a guesthouse for visitors of King Sihanouk, and as such many famous dignitaries once graced the building, including Jackie Onassis and Charles de Gaulle. Today, after another life as a military base in the 1980s, it is a 24-suite garden compound that serves as both a tranquil escape and a base from which to see the historic city of Siem Reap and of course, Angkor.
