Hotel Review
A beautifully adorned boutique hotel in the belly of a valley amidst the wild and rugged Corsican mountains, it lavishly combines euphoric views and folksy simplicity with distinctly modern luxuries. Expect a mix of exposed wooden panellings, rustic aesthetics, minimalist decor and modern art hanging on the walls. All rooms are newly renovated and soundproofed for assured privacy and have access to a terrace, where guests can stare down the valley, and the mattresses are physiotherapist-approved. The Aculaghja Suite is particularly suited for honeymooners: not only is there a Jacuzzi but a flat screen TV, minibar and angel-white marble sinks. There is a swimming pool, award-winning in-house bistro and a wine cellar with a great variety of Corsican wines. External to the rest of the building lies the chalet, that can take up to 5 people, and the Sheepfold, holding up to 4, that lies by a river whose rushing waters act as the gentle backdrop to the guests' stay. The region is excellent for hiking and, in the breath-arresting mountainous distance lies the abandoned town of Occi, eerily resplendent with its old churches and castle. The "Corsican Garden" of Balagne is renowned for its natural beauty and fertility, and boasts of activities ranging from waterskiing and paragliding to citadels and thousand-year-old monuments.
