Hotel review

This is a delightful hotel surrounded by neat gardens with climbing vines. Traditional details throughout the hotel, from fireplaces, mirrors and velvet chairs in the open spaces. Rooms are light and white, with plenty of space. The spa is a special treat, especially the eucalyptus steam room and counter-current swimming pool. Best of all is the spa size; big enough to have a real sense of quiet and personal care. Chef Philip Boucher's restaurant makes Provence dishes, which are the star of the show; don't miss the scallops with citrus pastry. Close enough to Avignon town to explore, yet it is probably worth hiring a car to make the most of the nearby vineyards and activities; an afternoon of hot-air ballooning before dinner in this enchanting hotel goes down a treat.
