Located in the ultra cool boho district of Santa Teresa, this cosmopolitan B&B is a great alternative to some of the pricier options in the neighborhood. Hosts Lance and David, from California, are super-friendly, ever keen to share information about the city and provide a generous breakfast by the poolside. The rooms are clean and simple; seven suites with private baths, air-conditioning, mini-bar and wi-fi. The theme is ‘cool experiences bought together by creative art, delicious food & personalised service’. The multiple gardens, open-air areas, pool and sun deck are exposed to the cool breeze and wonderful views – just the attributes that attracted settlers to Santa Teresa. With nearby lively cafés, gift shops selling arty trinkets and gourmet restaurants, Casa Cool Beans makes for a perfect vantage point from which to dive into the action of Rio de Janeiro.
