“This Loire château replica is a regular haunt of the glitterati. Expect to dine on gourmet cuisine and relax by fantastic swimming pools next to A-list celebs. An iconic American hotel. ”

Hotel review

A fantastical folly, this reproduction of Château Amboise in the Loire appears to have strayed off a movie set and taken up residence on Sunset Boulevard. Built in 1929, it was the city’s first quake-proof building, and has been a favourite haunt of the glitterati since Howard Hughes admired poolside starlets from his penthouse suite. Today’s stars can relax in luxurious surroundings and lush gardens knowing that the paparazzi are banned.

The most rock'n'roll hotel in the world? Los Angel

A night at the infamous Chateau Marmont, which rises above the Sunset Strip like a leviathan of gothic glamour, is part of the quintessential Hollywood experience.

Chateau Marmont

Chateau Marmont has remained the go-to hotel for Hollywood stars, who pop in and out largely unseen. Modelled on the Loire Valley's Chateau d’Amboise, expect frescoed vaulted ceilings, estate furniture and a warren of secret entrances and exists.
