Another new opening at the start of the 2012 season is the MOOSER Hotel; St Anton’s only ski-in/ski-out hotel in an absolutely dreamy piste-side location. If the name sounds familiar it is because it is right next to the MooserWirt, one of St Anton’s best-known and most popular Après-Ski-Bars which has been lining up the vodka shots and cranking out the choons since 1989. But if you’re not likely to be joining in, don’t let this put you off. The sound proofing in the rooms at the MOOSER Hotel is excellent and the MooserWirt is for early après only, pouring out time is 8pm. (Just be careful if you are coming back up the hill when the revellers are wobbling and careering back down.) The interior of the MOOSER Hotel is full of quirky and attractive details such as tapestry reindeer heads and chandeliers. The spa and infinity pool are completely hidden and overlook, through floor to ceiling windows, views of the Mühltobel Gorge. Owned and run by the same energetic enthusiastic family who own the bar next door, the interiors are modern but super-comfortable with plump leather armchairs and an open kitchen. The design is not so modern that the original carved wooden eaves and beams have been discarded. Portions of exposed stone walls sit happily with plush fabrics, reclaimed timber headboards and sheepskin rugs and throws.
