Hotel Review

Originally opened in the 1920s as the HQ for the Port of London Authority, 10 Trinity Square has been given a thoroughly modern makeover to become the Four Seasons at Ten Trinity Square. The original stone facade remains with its enormous dramatic columns, as do certain original features - portland stone and marble in the lobby and reception area (accessorised by huge floral arrangements), stunning walnut panelling in the Ballroom. Elsewhere the decor is bang up to date, but with a nod to the property’s maritime past (thinked themed lighting and other touches). Throughout there’s also an art-deco feel giving another nod to the building’s history. The rooms are beautifully done with superb attention to detail and all the trappings you’d expect from a Four Seasons hotel. Beds are huge and supremely comfy with top quality linens; spacious bathrooms are in marble with roomy walk-in showers and deep bath tubs, with complimentary toiletries by Bottega Veneta. There are two styles of room - some where the decor is dark and moody with tweed-clad walls, wooden panelled ceiling above the bed and the view from the floor to ceiling window is into a central atrium with modern sculpture; others where there’s a lighter palette of blues and greys or honeyed oak, and a more traditional feel. Downstairs, beyond the lobby, The Rotunda Bar, with magnificent domed ceiling and a great line in cocktails, doubles as space for both breakfast (excellent freshly cooked fare) and afternoon tea. If you’re dining in, there are two options, Chinese and Japanese dishes at Mei Ume showcasing the best of both cuisines with Sushi bar and an extensive menu, or the superb La Dame de Pic, Anne-Sophie Pic’s Michelin starred London outpost, where you’ll find French cuisine at its very best. And for those who need some pampering the lower ground floor spa will not disappoint. There’s an atmospheric pool, and another where you can indulge in some hydrotherapy, plus hammam and sauna. The Four Seasons at Ten Trinity Square might be viewed by some as simply a luxury business hotel, but really it offers so much more. Friendly staff are knowledgeable and helpful; location wise it’s perfect - the Tower of London and Tower Bridge are literally across the road, and the South Bank is just over the river. It's family friendly, and if you want to venture further afield there's transport options everywhere you look. So if you're looking for a luxury city break you may well have found your spot!
