An hour’s drive from Marrakech through the desert into the mountains takes you to the dramatic scenery around the lake at Lalla Takerkoust.

Hotel Kasbah Beldi, the sister hotel of the popular Beldi Country Club, sits on a peaceful plateau commanding views of the surrounding terrain. Originally a farm, the main building plays host to the reception and a salon used by guests for board games and reading, leading to the dining hall with vaulted ceiling and aromas of freshly baked bread wafting out of the kitchen.

Each night there is a 3-course set menu with 3 choices served here using vegetables from the hotel’s garden. Nine rustic rooms and nineteen lodges are charming in their functional simplicity, dotted around the 15-hectare plot between pathways of rosemary.

Two large pools give guests the option of shaded or sunny lounging - either close to the outdoor café where lunch is served under olive and pistachio trees or a spot with more privacy among wild grasses. This makes the perfect base for unwinding - for couples, walkers and families/groups.
