This dignified, two-storey mansion, built in 1840 by one of Kythira’s leading families, has been turned into a boutique hotel by Linda and Panayiotis Fatseas. It’s just off the narrow main street, perched above a steep valley covered with terraced fields and vineyards. Breakfast is served in the stone paved courtyard outside, and inside the rooms are spacious, with period features such as stone arches and flagstone floors. The bedrooms are unfussily decorated, with plain wooden beds: places for sleeping rather than lingering.
