Hotel Review

Hidden down a backstreet in a quiet nook of the Kasbah — and like many of the best hotels here, tucked away behind an unassuming entrance — this labyrinthine hotel consists of 5 co-joined riads. The main building is distinctive by its exposed brickwork while each riad has its own unique signature style, creating a different atmosphere, from Riad Sheherazade with its intricate plasterwork, carved woodwork and zellij tiling and colourful Riad Saadia to the entirely white marble and stucco Riad Sabaa. What each has in common are the stunning individually designed rooms. Yes they're all totally different, yet each is imbued with the same attention to detail and luxurious accessories as the next, whether you opt for one with a more contemporary pared back vibe or a totally opulent deluxe suite, complete with chandeliers and personal butler service. In the leafy courtyard next to the heated pool you can enjoy breakfast and dinner (this is where you'll find the fine dining La Table du Sultana) while the generous rooftop terrace, L'Odette, offers a fabulous space for some seriously cool cocktails (come at sunset for epic views) and a laid-back dining experience with a menu of plates designed to be shared. La Sultana is a hotel at the top of its game and will appeal to those who appreciate the perks of a large, elegant yet low-key hotel with space for privacy, attentive service, spa, restaurant etc, yet is well situated in a vibrant neighbourhood, just outside the hub of the medina. Being close to the royal palaces and museum, the area is very safe and clean, and ideal for those who plan to explore on foot.

La Sultana Marrakesh

Luxury and a sense of history are the hallmarks of La Sultana. Staying here is a real experience, considering the hotel’s bombastic décor and painstaking three-year restoration, which involved the Historical Monuments Organisation.
