L’Hermitage Hotel & Spa

The remote setting is the appeal of this attractive four-star hotel, hidden in a peaceful olive- and fruit-growing valley deep in the mountainous interior of the island. The main building is a pretty, fortified 17th-century stone manor house, which first welcomed overnight guests when it was converted to a monastery. Most of the 20 cool, comfortable bedrooms are in a two-storey modern annexe. The best and brightest are upstairs, decorated in traditional Mallorcan style, some with fireplaces, large terraces and terrific mountain views. There is a superior restaurant housed in the old olive mill, which has heaps of character with its sloping, beamed ceiling, original grinding stones and a large dining terrace. An outdoor pool, two tennis courts, sauna, spa and charming staff complete a near perfect picture.
