This hotel sits within one of Ireland's most acclaimed country estates: Mount Juliet. A family home until 1989, the property now comprises two hotels, an equestrian club, spa and golf course. Set in acres of beautiful, rolling Irish countryside, one would be hard pushed to think of a more idyllic setting for a boutique hotel. The Manor House offers 32, luxuriously appointed rooms named after notable guests of the estate. 18th-century design reigns inside, with boutique, floral print wallpaper, impossibly soft throws and a blend of contemporary and antique furniture. The hotel offers river view rooms for a privileged vista over Ballylinch Stud and the River Nore; some of these rooms also boast an original fireplace. For maximum indulgence, book one of the two Manor House Suites, with plush four-poster beds and a separate living area. The hotel's many reception rooms are meticulously maintained, and there is no shortage of cosy nooks to unwind with a book and admire the views. The hotel offers afternoon tea in the bar or the lounge, a resoundingly enjoyable affair. The most exciting place to eat at the hotel has to be the Lady Helen Restaurant, a Michelin-starred experience with an international menu. Aside from eating well, the hotel offers a range of appropriately country activities, from fishing in the River Nore to cycling and riding. A stand-out hotel.
