“Stunning 4-star hotel built out of an 11th century monastery with gorgeous views of mountains, rivers and forestry. It offers chic, designer rooms with flourishes of rustic charm: antique furniture and objets d'art. Boasting an indoor pool, bar, restaurant and gym. Ideal for a countryside retreat.”

Hotel review

Once one of the most important and popular places in medieval Asturias, the Parador de Curias has rejuvenated itself as just that - a quiet sanctuary of wellbeing, tradition and elegance. The former Benedictine Monastery, built in the 11th century, is named as one of Spain's National Historical-Artistic Monuments and it is easy to see why: with grand, archaic cloisters that wind around the blooming garden courtyard, perched between looming mountains, woodland and the Narcea River, it offers spectacular views of the surrounding countryside and the beautiful Tuscan Church standing nearby. Inside, it is peppered with old antiques, statues and centenary objet d'art, while the rooms starkly contrast this sense of archaic tradition with lush, designer features. The basement itself houses the archaeological remains of the monastery which guests are invited to peruse. A place of gastronomic delights and home comforts, it has a bar, restaurant, gym and several meeting rooms that are ideal for business seminars or the celebration of a birthday or wedding. Simply put, it is a place steeped in history perched beneath ecstatic blue skies, amongst forestry and sublime mountainsides: ideally suited for a quiet writer's retreat or business meetings.
