“A sustainable, eco-friendly and super-slick resort on a black beach in Western Bali. Villas range from one to ten bedrooms with private terraces, infinity pools and butlers. Enjoy pampering spa treatments, explore the surrounding paddies and immerse yourself in local culture. Totally unique.”

Hotel review

Super slick, this cutting-edge resort is removed from the madding crowds and opens on to a vast, deserted black velvet beach, edged by huge lush paddy fields. A design lover’s dream, the villas, all with private pools, oversized bales (gazebos) and super efficient butlers, are achingly stylish. The flair for design extends to the three restaurants which serve a creative fusion of Eastern and Western cuisines. The palate used throughout the hotel echoes the naturally occurring colours of the sparkling sand, crashing surf and brilliant seaside light. The pièce de résistance is the spa which has an aqua roof that creates a soothing spectrum of watery light and a cocoon of peace and quiet.

The Hot List 2011

"Sliding gracefully between sinuous rice terraces and a shimmering, black-sand beach, the resort combines cool, grey stone from nearby river quarries and polished teak in a harmonious design that gently, almost humbly, invites the human visitor into the landscape."
