After a makeover from hoteliers Ian and Christa Taylor, The Bird brightens up the locality with its quirky bird-themed design elements, fabulous food and casual luxury. This hotel has a sense of humour too: a huge cat tapestry is hanging in the lounge area on entrance. There are 31 rooms over four floors and they are draped in art with comfortable beds and creative furnishings - one room has a hot tub. When it’s time for tea, dine at Plate, expect delicious locally sourced produce without the fuss. Breakfast here is a treat with local pastries, juices and eggs to order.
