“A charming hotel centred around a 600-year-old farmhouse just outside Stevenage. Stylish rooms are spread through the farmhouse, smart modern converted barn and stables. All are beautifully done with up-to-the-minute interiors and luxe accessories. A seriously good restaurant completes the picture.”

Hotel Review
Surrounded by a landscaped garden with attractive rolling countryside beyond, this comfortable country hotel is a winning combination of old meets new. Its 15th century centre has both public and guest rooms with heaps of historic character including splendid fireplaces and original beams, but there are more modern areas, such as the conservatory-style restaurant and converted barns across the courtyard, where there's a further range of smart rooms. These typically feature bursts of colour, whether dramatic, bright red headboards or highly-decorated statement wallpapers, tempered by exposed brick walls and an attractive mix of retro and contemporary furniture. The bar is cosy, and the award winning restaurant serves tasty dishes, with a farm to fork ethos. With lovely walks on the doorstep, this is a really easy escape from London (half an hour on the train from St Pancras) and well worth it!
