“A perfectly-positioned luxury townhouse hotel near St James’s Palace with a rich history, contemporary art and comfortable rooms. Enjoy British classics at The Game Bird restaurant and cocktails at the American Bar.”

Hotel review

Hidden behind its entrance, The Stafford occupies three sides of a charming 18th century cobbled courtyard in the heart of St James’s. The hotel’s 107 luxury rooms and suites are spread across the hotel’s different buildings, each with its own distinct feel. As a result, there’s something for every guest, from the Victorian rooms in the ‘Main House’ to opulent suites in ‘The Mews’ or the luxury three-storey ‘Gatehouse’. The delightful courtyard – with its striped awnings and outdoor dining – offers a remarkably calm, peaceful spot given this hotel’s central location. Enjoy seasonal British classics at The Game Bird restaurant, which opened in 2017, before sampling cocktails at the American Bar where walls and ceilings are decked out with quirky memorabilia. Beneath the hotel lies a 380-year-old wine cellar, which doubled up as an air raid shelter in the Second World War. The cellar plays homage to the hotel’s past with a tiny museum featuring wartime posters, newspapers and artefacts. A unique and atmospheric place to stay in London.

The royal parks and palaces are on our doorstep and iconic landmarks such as The Houses of Parliament, London Eye and Piccadilly Circus are just minutes away. Mayfair and St James’s are famous for their boutiques and galleries and we always recommend our guests take a trip to the Royal Academy of Arts, stop by some of the smaller galleries dotted around the area or visit Jermyn Street, one of London’s oldest shopping streets famous for high quality British artistry and craftsmanship. What kind of breakfast do you offer? Guests can choose to join us in The Game Bird restaurant or The American Bar for a full Continental or Full English breakfast. Alternatively, breakfast can be served in the comfort of your room or suite, in our private cobbled courtyard or ‘to go’, the choice is yours! Do you offer other meals?
