About Seefeld
A popular Tyrolean resort since the 1930s, Seefeld is a great place to escape to for winter sports or summer hiking. Located between Innsbruck and Munich, it is a great place to stop off on your way to or from these cities. The best places to stay in Seefeld tend to be in the village itself, but if you want to be closer to the slopes then there are some great options slightly further afield. The choice of accommodation is as varied as the ski runs! There really is something here for all tastes and budgets from basic self catering studios to five star high-end hotels.
The village itself has a lovely Tyrolean feel, with wooden chalets and old churches. It is the home of Anton Seelos, the inventor of the parallel turn, and has been the venue for several Winter Olympic Games. There are also a number of museums (the Tyrolean Museum is worth a look) and galleries, as well as an ice rink and spa.
As for the slopes, there are more than 100km of runs, catering for all abilities. If you're a beginner then there's a great ski school, but if you're an expert then there's plenty of off-piste terrain to explore. If you plan to visit in the summer months don't miss out on some of the great hiking trails in the area. The more adventurous can have a go at some seriously testing mountain biking or paragliding.
As with all popular wintersports centres, the town is incredibly busy during the peak Christmas and New Year weeks and February half term. If you're planning a trip during these periods and want to guarantee a room in one of the best places to stay in Seefeld, get organised and book well ahead!
