Le Marche’s long Adriatic coastline is a fantastic choice for a beach break or classic family bucket-and-spade holiday. The larger centres of Ancona and Pesaro offer plenty of accommodation choices, with plenty of family-friendly hotels, and self catering options. Ancona is the region’s main transport hub (it’s got a large ferry terminal, as well as a major train terminal), but just out of town you'll find some pretty impressive stretches of sand. Pesaro isn’t particularly well known amongst international visitors, but it’s a very popular choice for Italian family holidays, and laid back beach breaks. Between these two centres, and further south along Le Marche’s coastline, are numerous small fishing villages and pretty ports, and these are the perfect places to look if you’d prefer a seaside escape, or something a bit more private or luxurious.
