About Atlantic City

A resort city on New Jersey’s Atlantic coast, Atlantic City is best-known for its glitzy hotels, casinos, nightclubs and expansive beaches. Originally founded as a restorative health resort in the 19th Century, this seaside spot has become synonymous with big parties and fun-filled beach breaks. Accommodation options range from historic pubs to expansive luxury resorts, promising something for all tastes and budgets. This is the top resort city on the East Coast, so the best places to stay in Atlantic City fill up fast.

Begin your explorations on the famous Atlantic City Boardwalk, first built in the 1870s. Expect a lively buzz, and a great selection of eateries, gift shops, cultural attractions and family-friendly fun. Steel Pier is the place to go for classic amusement park rides, whilst Garden Pier boasts the Atlantic City Historical Museum and the Atlantic City Art Centre. Head onto big sandy beaches for days of sunbathing, sandcastle-building, surfing, sea kayaking, windsurfing and fishing. Sporty visitors will find plenty of running and cycling trails, as well as some of the best golf courses in the country.

Many visitors are drawn to Atlantic City by the glittering casinos and late-night shows. Top spots include Borgata Casino, Caesars Casino — with the largest gaming floor in the area — the Hard Rock Casino and Ocean Resort Casino, amongst others. There are live music events and parties galore across the city, ideal for dancing 'til the sun comes up! More laid-back travellers can unwind in world-class spas or hit the many designer boutiques.

With the best places to stay in Atlantic City set close to both the casinos and the beach, you’ll be well-placed to immerse yourself in all that the city has to offer.
