For a Special Occasion

- The Kapari Natural Resort has been carved right into the cliff-face at Imerovigli, in the traditional Santorini style, with vaulted ceilings and stepped terraces. The décor in the 19 rooms and suites is traditional too, with plenty of white and neutral tones. The most romantic of the rooms have private terraces with hot tubs, and incredible caldera views, but even the simplest rooms have private terraces, and all are memorable for all the right reasons. The restaurant and wine bar are too. Romantic, but also family friendly – The Private Residence can accommodate up to 15 people.
For the Views

- The Astra Suites are a collection of 27 Cycladic-style rooms and suites, decorated in whites with splashes of bright colour. Some have private balconies, some private hot tubs, but they all have access to a lovely Greek restaurant and spectacular infinity pool and lounge/bar area. There’s also a sauna and steam room. The family suites are ideal for two adults and two children, and children up to five years old stay for free!
- Homeric Poems is a sophisticated cliffside hotel with 20 rooms and suites, a lovely pool and numerous sun terraces. There are beautiful views from almost everywhere, plus contemporary art to look at when you’re facing away from the views. Its cave-style rooms are creatively decorated, and vary from room to room, but all feel fresh, stylish and spacious. Suites sleep up to four, and some of them have private plunge pools and hot tubs too. There’s no restaurant, but there is a bar, and they serve snacks and breakfast on your private terrace, or in the bar. A good pick for families with older children.
For Great Facilities

- The De Sol Hotel is a smart new hotel complex outside Thira, with fantastic facilities, and a range of accommodation that includes family suites or private villas. This is a contemporary hotel, with contemporary hotel features, like a spacious spa with an impressive treatment menu, and a playground. Some of the suites have private pools and spas, but the whole complex is arranged around a central free-form pool with a smaller pool perfect for smaller children. The Mediterranean restaurant is very family friendly, and they run a shuttle in to Thira.
For Cycladic Charms

- Esperas offers different types of accommodation, from rooms, to studios, to suites and whole villas — all with kitchenettes. You’re right on the coast at Oia, with spectacular views from private balconies. The decor is rustic white Cycladic, with bright blue details and colourful art works.
For an Apartment Hotel

- The Apanemo Hotel offers stunning caldera views from its postcard-perfect position on the cliffs at Akrotiri. The views from the stepped pool and terrace are incredible, but the majority of the 27 apartment-style rooms have private terrace or balconies with incredible views too. Outside the Apanemo couldn’t be more perfectly Cycladic, with plenty of white, bougainvillea, succulents, blue accents and natural stone, and inside the rooms offer Mediterranean-style comfort. There’s no restaurant, but they offer an impressive buffet breakfast each day. For families there are suites (two sofa beds for the children) and a children's pool.
- The 11 room Hotel Ilioperato is a charming, traditionally Cycladic choice in Imerovigli, with whitewashed walls inside and out, and stepped terraces. Each room or apartment has a private terrace or balcony, and small kitchenette — the deluxe accommodation features private hot tubs too — and the largest apartments sleep up to five. There’s no restaurant, but breakfast is delivered to your door.
For a Whole Villa

- The Vino Houses is a beautifully traditional looking complex of villas, with just three units, idyllically located in the countryside, about 30 minutes walk from Oia, and ten minutes walk from one of the best black-sand beaches on Santorini. Each has the classic Cycladic features: whitewashed walls, vaulted ceilings, and big windows, and all have full self-catering facilities, private plunge pools and terraces. They provide you with a large breakfast every morning too! Expect clean, unfussy interior design with stylish soft furnishings.
- The Aenaon Villas is a complex of seven villas, built into the cliffside on the route between Oia and Imerovigli — so slightly out of the way. Each of the villas is stylishly decorated with white furnishings against white walls: traditional, but contemporary too. The villas all have private outdoor space, and two have private plunge pools; they share an infinity pool. Children over eight welcome.
For Great Value

- Thira’s Tzekos Villas Hotel is spectacularly built into the cliffside — vertically, like an elegant, white amphitheatre — which means that every one of the 25 rooms and suites has wonderful caldera views. From the outside this looks every bit the traditional Cycladic building, but inside are tiled floors, plenty of colour, and all the mod cons. There are a handful of rooms that are designed for three and four people, and are ideal for families. No restaurant, but they do serve breakfast.
- Aria Lito is quite different from the majority of our family friendly Santorini recommendations: it’s much more like a Mediterranean villa hotel, converted from a private mansion. Its 16 rooms and suites have been cleverly designed to include all the mod cons, and chic, contemporary hotel-style decor. There are a lot of gorgeous views too, and luxurious facilities, like in-room massages and wine tastings. They serve breakfasts, but not other meals, but that’s not a problem, you’re in the heart of Thira. It prides itself on being one of the only truly family friendly hotels in town.
