“16th-century palazzo, overlooking Basilica di Santa Maria della Salute in the Dorsoduro neighbourhood. The décor harks back to a bygone era of decadence and style. Think rich fabrics, bold wallpaper and quirky antiques. Choose one of the themed rooms for the best experience and fine lagoon views. ”

Hotel review

This beautiful romantic boutique hotel in Venice is owned by brothers Alessio and Nicola Campo. This 16th-century palazzo has been converted into a decadent small luxury hotel and was one of the first boutique hotels to open in Venice. Located next to the Basilica di Santa Maria della Salute at the southern tip of the Dorsoduro and just one stop from Piazza San Marco, you can arrive either by water taxi (the hotel has its own canal entrance) or vaporetto (the nearest stop is just a few metres away). Most 'Venetian style' hotels in this city are similar with traditional Venetian interiors, but here’s one with a difference. The palazzo is richly furnished, with plenty of damask, and plenty of originality too, especially in the five themed rooms, such as the decadent Sala Noir with its black chandelier. Standard rooms are all similar, all smart, with good en-suite bathrooms. There are three suites, including one with its own outside terrace and sitting room for those who want more private space, but all twelve rooms are full of style and elegance. Breakfast is a lavish affair (they boast of 70 different options for you to choose from) served either in a richly furnished salon upstairs or in your bedroom. There's also a cosy and decadent sitting room with comfortable chairs to rest your feet after a day exploring. Nothing seems to be too much trouble for the friendly but impeccably trained staff. However, be aware that there is no lift, and the stairs are quite steep. You'll love staying here, and be sad to leave. The perfect hotel for opulence, romance, shopping and culture and one of the best places to stay in Venice.

"An air of warm, welcoming urbanity in this very grown-up hotel by the church of the Salute extends into Palazzetto 113 next door."
