Cisneros is a historic ‘P’ listed heritage house which is over 500 years old and positively oozes atmosphere. Tucked away on a narrow street immediately behind Toledo’s massive cathedral you can really sense the ecclesiastical heritage of this famous city. The rooms are dark and cosy with medieval overtones - low wooden ceilings, heavy shutters and toledano furnishings. Blankets and bolsters are the norm. The bathrooms are small, but spotless and functional. The balustraded windows look out across the narrow cobbled street onto the soaring buttresses of the cathedral. This is not grand luxe but if you want to stay in the centre and imagine yourself as a visiting 15th century pilgrim this is the place to be. You can easily explore the whole town on foot from here. Don’t miss the excellent audio tour of the cathedral and the El Greco museum.
