Hotel review

Not far from the River Dronne, the Château Le Mas de Montet is set in 130 acres of grounds and ancient woodland. After three years of restoration, the owners have combined the château’s traditional features and furnishings with plenty of luxurious extras. The ten bedrooms and suites – most of which have a four-poster bed – are all beautifully decorated and the modern bathrooms gleam. With the chef elected into the Toques du Périgord – an association dedicated to local seasonal ingredients and honest cooking – you’re guaranteed delicious evening meals in the elegant dining room. There’s plenty of space to relax, as well as a pool, and the knowledgeable staff will happily point you in the direction of cycle paths, horse riding and canoeing.
