Companhia das culturas is the epitome of modern, simple and elegant rustic rural charm in an unspoilt region of the Eastern Algarve. Old farm buildings have been converted into chic ensuite rooms with white washed walls, antique furnishings and French doors leading out to the garden. New additions include the transformation of the old mill and sheepfold into four apartments (ideal for families and groups as they sleep up to five people), and a hammam Turkish bath – the perfect spot for unwinding after a day at nearby Praia Verde beach. This is a place to truly switch off, with no tv or music, wifi unable to reach rooms, and a fantastic outdoor saltwater pool. Plus there’s an organic vegetable garden, the produce of which you’ll sample at breakfast before trying some yoga, Tai-chi or Qi-Gong. It’s situated on a working family farm with over 40 hectares of stone pines, cork oaks, carob trees, apricot and fig trees and olive oil groves, and you can get your hands dirty with some seasonal farm work – carob picking anyone? An endearing and authentic hotel offering excellent value for money.
