If you think a city hotel with a green conscience is going to be an uncomfortable experience, think again. The newly opened Conscious Hotel Vondelpark – there’s another, smaller one in Museumplein – is fresh, hip, friendly and fully sustainable. Everything’s recyclable, even the material on the lift floor (made from airplane tyres) and breakfast is 100% organic and free range. The rooms, premium or standard, are bright, spacious and fun with organic nature themed wallpaper and the odd quirk like an upside-down hanging plant. With its keen prices and green conscience, it’s popular with the young. Enjoy your Innocent smoothie by the vertical green wall before heading out to the flesh pots of Amsterdam.
