“A big, sleek urban hotel with five-star service, a rooftop pool, luxury spa and excellent drinking & dining options. Also family-friendly. A chic urban stay, with complimentary shuttles to Auckland's waterfront.”

Hotel review

This hotel shows how to do 'big and corporate' with panache and personality. True, it's not pretty - bland and monolithic, apartment-block style - but inside it's smooth, urbane and airy in cool shades of grey and white with sweeps of marble, soft carpets and statement chandeliers. Bedrooms are spacious, classy and carefully thought through - king-size beds, big mirrors, excellent lighting - and in the same soft greys and whites. The higher the floor, the better the views; upgrade to club class for an exclusive lounge with complimentary drinks and snacks. There's an outdoor pool, plus spa and free shuttle service to downtown Auckland and the waterfront; the latter useful as otherwise it's a good 25-minute walk. Dinner, for such a large hotel, is exceptional; a series of cooking stations where dishes - from steaks to curries, sushi to seafood - are prepared to order. Service throughout the hotel is faultless, and friendly.

Why do people love staying in your hotel? Genuine friendly service Comfortable Dream Beds Stunning heated rooftop pool and Jacuzzi Chuan Spa, Auckland The Club Lounge (available only with Executive Room & Suites) What is there to do in the area or on site? We have a whole section on our website about things to see & do around Auckland, from shopping and restaurant suggestions to the best cultural activities. What kind of breakfast do you offer? There is an a la carte breakfast in our elegant Lobby Lounge, or a sumptuous buffet breakfast daily at Eight restaurant (both on site). Do you offer other meals? And can you recommend good places to eat out locally? We have two restaurants on site – Eight restaurant and The Lobby Lounge. Both have a bar, but The Lobby Lounge offers a more sophisticated setting, while Eight has a family/ group focus. Eight restaurant offers buffet-style lunch and dinner based around an ‘interactive dining’ concept. There are eight kitchens, each hosted by an expert chef, offering different international cuisines. You can ask for your selections to be prepared to order. The elegant Lobby Lounge offers a la carte breakfast, lunch and dinner, and a selection of tea, coffee, wines, cocktails etc. It also serves our popular signature High Tea by Cordis daily. Which are your most popular room types, and why? My favourite would be the Executive Room. It offers full Club Privileges including daily breakfast, evening drinks and canapés and afternoon tea snacks, all served in The Club Lounge. What facilities do you have for children and can you fit extra beds in your rooms? We have a Kids programme called Cordis Kids offered by all Cordis Hotels in The Langham Hospitality Group. Kids 12 and under receive a complimentary Cordis, Auckland backpack on arrival, with a welcome Cordis gift and slippers, a Kiwi-inspired colouring pack, a fun scavenger hunt activity and more. We have kids menus in Lobby Lounge and Eight, and a free fruit snack for kids when ordering from in-room dining. There is a babysitting service if ordered 24 hours in advance (fee charged) Essential items for infants and toddlers including food warmers, baby bottle sterilisers and high chairs are available on request at no charge (subject to availability). There are complimentary cots for infants/babies. Children 12 and under can stay free if they use existing beds. For most rooms (except double double), a rollaway can be requested (fee charged) – it is $90 for Superior rooms and $180 for Club/Suite rooms. What message would you like to give Hotel Guru readers? We enjoy delivering genuine heartfelt service and unique local experiences. We have a series of room packages called ‘Locally Yours’ which aim to provide a unique local experience for our guests. On check-in, guests receive a ‘GO Play’ card which offers access to 200+ discounted activities in Auckland and around NZ, so that guests have the chance to experience some favourite local activities during their stay.
